TORONTO – Toronto Blue Jays rookie pitcher Trey Yesavage is considered week-to-week after surgery on his left knee.<\/p>\n
Blue Jays manager John Schneider says the operation to repair Yesavage’s meniscus was successful and that he’s not ruled out for the year.<\/p>\n
The 23-year-old right-hander left Toronto’s 7-2 road loss to the Houston Astros on Aug. 4 after throwing 16 strikes over two innings.\u00a0<\/p>\n
His left knee appeared to buckle as he warmed up for the third inning, and he was checked by a trainer before exiting the game.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Yesavage (5-5) has a 3.65 earned-run average over 18 starts this season with 91 strikeouts.<\/p>\n
A September call-up last year, Yesavage was a sensation throughout Toronto’s run to the World Series.<\/p>\n
