The left-hander struck out five while walking just two, finishing two outs shy of a quality start. The right-hander allowed only four base hits, and only one of those went for extra bases. Baez\u2019s sinker-heavy approach may be hurting worm colonies, but it is certainly helping the right-hander succeed. Baez has not allowed an earned run since May 10 and has now tossed 21.1 consecutive scoreless innings. Right-hander <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/search\/search.fcgi?pid=jones-003spe,jones-001spe&amp;search=Spencer+Jones&amp;utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=eastvillagetimes.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-06-04_br\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Spencer Jones<\/a> was tagged with the loss, allowing one run in 1.1 innings. Marcos Castanon kept hitting, notching two singles in the loss. Castanon returned to the keystone in this game, starting at second base. Three-RBI Triple<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/register\/player.fcgi?id=verdug000ros&amp;utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=eastvillagetimes.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-06-04_br\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Rosman Verdugo<\/a> \u2013 1-for-1, Home Run<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/register\/player.fcgi?id=koenig000ian&amp;utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=eastvillagetimes.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-06-04_br\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Ian Koenig<\/a> \u2013 6 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 1 BB, 2 K (79 pitches \u2013 51 strikes)<\/p>\n<p>Right-hander Ian Koenig tossed his first career complete game in a victory over the Sky Carp, kind of. Koenig tossed six innings of two-run baseball with two strikeouts on just 79 pitches before the game was called due to rain. With the game having exceeded the five-inning mark and met the minimum for an official game, and with more rain in the forecast, the game was called after six innings, all but guaranteeing Koenig the complete game. Koenig has been solid for the TinCaps this season, and while he is still fully developing his arsenal, his fastball looks to be his bread and butter. If he continues to mitigate the walks, Koenig could have the ceiling of a middle to back-end starter.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Sean Barnett was the hitter of the game, finishing with one base hit in three at-bats, but it was a massive hit for the TinCaps\u2019 DH. Barnett laced a middle-middle offering from Sky Carp starter <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/register\/player.fcgi?id=olson-000emm&amp;utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=eastvillagetimes.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-06-04_br\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Emmett Olson<\/a>, hitting a liner to center that would empty the bases, giving Fort Wayne a 3-0 lead. Rosman Verdugo registered one official at-bat, as he walked twice and scored two runs. The Huntsville, AL native rattled off 5.2 scoreless innings with four strikeouts. It was the right-hander\u2019s best outing on the road this season, as he had struggled in his last road appearance (2.1, 6 ER vs Visalia on May 20). Reliever <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/register\/player.fcgi?id=gil---000igo&amp;utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=eastvillagetimes.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-06-04_br\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Igor Gil<\/a> allowed two runs in 0.2 innings of work, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/register\/player.fcgi?id=conrad000ada&amp;utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=eastvillagetimes.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-06-04_br\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Adam Conrad<\/a> came on in the seventh to try and limit the damage. While Conrad allowed one of two inherited runners to score, he pitched 1.2 scoreless innings with three strikeouts, extending his scoreless appearance streak to 11 games and 23.1 innings. Vicarte Domingo tossed a scoreless ninth inning with a strikeout to pick up his second save of the season.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Offensively, the team put up three walks and seven hits. Zach Evans led the charge with three hits, including a double and an RBI single. Evans has been a pillar of consistency for the Storm this season, and you can read EVT\u2019s recent interview with Evans here. While <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/register\/player.fcgi?id=valent000cha&amp;utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=eastvillagetimes.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-06-04_br\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Chase Valentine<\/a> finished hitless in the game, he reached base on a fielding error that allowed Zach Evans to score in the second inning. Ryan Wilson was involved in two of the team\u2019s scoring plays, as he reached on a fielding error in the third inning that saw <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/register\/player.fcgi?id=king--000lam&amp;utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=eastvillagetimes.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-06-04_br\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Lamar King<\/a> Jr score, and hit a fifth-inning RBI single to score <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/register\/player.fcgi?id=hollow000kad&amp;utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=eastvillagetimes.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-06-04_br\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Kaden Hollow<\/a>. Lugo allowed three runs on one hit and three walks. Kannon Kemp relieved Lugo and threw 4.2 innings of two-run baseball, striking out two batters. Kemp continues to build up his arm strength after missing 2024 due to injury, and has posted a 4.88 ERA (with an encouraging 3.84 FIP) this season. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/search\/search.fcgi?pid=smith-010tan,smith-002tan,smith-011tan,smith-015tan,smith-012tan&amp;search=Tanner+Smith&amp;utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=eastvillagetimes.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-06-04_br\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Tanner Smith<\/a> struck out three in 1.2 innings, lowering his season ERA to 3.60 after a scoreless outing. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/register\/player.fcgi?id=mendez000dar&amp;utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=eastvillagetimes.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-06-04_br\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Darlin Mendez<\/a> allowed the tying runs to score in 0.1 innings of work, setting up the game to extra innings. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/register\/player.fcgi?id=davila001man&amp;utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=eastvillagetimes.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-06-04_br\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Manuel Davila<\/a> allowed the automatic runner to score in the tenth, and then backed out for the eleventh. Davila allowed a walk and a single to lead off the inning before being relieved by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/register\/player.fcgi?id=burgos001rob&amp;utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=eastvillagetimes.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-06-04_br\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Roberto Burgos<\/a>. Burgos walked in a run before allowing a single and another walk to turn the score from 8-8 to 12-8.
