ARLINGTON, Texas\u00a0\u2014\u00a0Rookie Ryan Johnson<\/a> carried a no-hitter into the sixth inning for second time this season and three Angels<\/a> pitchers combined for a one-hitter in a 3-0 win<\/a> over the Texas Rangers on Saturday night.<\/p>\n

Johnson (3-7) struck out three in a career-high seven innings and won for the first time since July 19. He gave up only Cody Freeman\u2019s leadoff single in the sixth inning and two walks with a hit batter. On June 23, the 24-year-old right-hander threw 6\u2153 innings of no-hit ball in beating Baltimore 5-1.<\/p>\n

Rookie Ryan Watson followed Michael Fulmer and recorded his second save.<\/p>\n

Zach Neto<\/a> went three for five with two doubles, a triple and two runs two nights after going five for six at Houston. The Angels (52-78) beat the Rangers (64-66), who are competing for an AL playoff spot, for the eighth time in 12 games.<\/p>\n

Johnson defeated left-hander Cody Bradford (0-2) in a matchup of Dallas-Fort Worth players.<\/p>\n

Johnson is from Red Oak, Texas, located about 30 miles southeast of Arlington, and played collegiately at Dallas Baptist. Bradford is from Aledo, about 30 miles west of Globe Life Field, and played collegiately for Baylor, about 90 miles south.<\/p>\n

Bradford allowed two runs on seven hits in 5\u2153 innings. He missed all of last season recovering from elbow surgery, made his 2026 debut on Aug. 5, and was looking for his first major league win since September 2024.<\/p>\n

The Angels picked up their 11th shutout of the season. Texas was shut out for the 10th time this season, including twice in the last four games.<\/p>\n

Texas\u2019 Jake Burger was hit by Johnson in the third inning and left the game after four innings with a left wrist contusion. X-rays were negative, and Burger is listed as day to day.<\/p>\n

Injury updates<\/p>\n

The Angels placed first baseman Nolan Schanuel on the 10-day injured list with a right intercostal muscle strain and outfielder Wade Meckler on the seven-day concussion list, both retroactive to Friday.<\/p>\n

Both left Thursday night\u2019s game at Houston.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think it was something that he\u2019s kind of been dealing with a little bit, and it just got to a point where it wasn\u2019t feeling great,\u201d manager Kurt Suzuki said of Schanuel. \u201cSo, just kind of said something like \u2018Let\u2019s try not to make it get really bad.\u2019 So, they\u2019re trying to be precautionary.\u201d<\/p>\n

Meckler was hit near the right ear by a 90.6 mph sinker from Astros left-hander Bryan King. He was motionless on the ground for a few seconds, but was able to get to his feet with the help of trainers before walking off the field.<\/p>\n

In corresponding moves, the Angels recalled infielder-outfielder Christian Moore and outfielder-catcher Gustavo Campero from triple-A Salt Lake. Both were in the starting lineup for Saturday night\u2019s game at Texas.<\/p>\n
