Justin Guido\/Special to the  Eagle<\/p>\n<p>\n                  Justin Guido\/Special to the Eagle\n              <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__body\">Trent Best, a senior infielder\/right-handed pitcher at Butler, committed to Marietta College earlier this month to continue his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.butlereagle.com\/category\/high-school-sports\/baseball\/\" id=\"link-1da5929531879a1fa83170069ec3f6dc\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">baseball<\/a> career.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__body\">\u201cI\u2019m beyond blessed and excited to announce my commitment to Marietta College,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/TrentBest09\/status\/2087351980028989627?s=20\" id=\"link-9968092c15ccdd5d5a27499daf2aa533\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow\">Best wrote<\/a> in a post on X. \u201cFirst I want to thank my family for the endless support and sacrifices. What might the local baseball impact be?<\/p>\n<p>    <\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"article__body\">Best, who primarily played third base in the spring, paced the WPIAL champion and PIAA runner-up Golden Tornado in batting average (.373) last season, in front of Division I recruits Nolan Stefaniak (.364) and Mavrik Clement (.312). Best\u2019s 18 RBIs were third-most on the team, while his three home runs tied for second.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__body\">The Pioneers, who play in Division III and compete in the Ohio Athletic Conference, have sent seven players to the major leagues. They went 13-20 this past spring.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__body\">Tyler Sullivan, Marietta\u2019s first-year head coach, spent the last three seasons as an assistant coach at the Division I level.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Butler\u2019s Trent Best, right, has committed to play baseball at Marietta College after his senior season.
