The pitch has solid life through the zone, leaning more into the sink/run archetype than cut/carry, but he’ll generate solid backspin and carry when he gets behind the baseball. It’s easy to slap a future plus grade on the heater.

With Cullen Scott’s reclassification this morning, now is a good time to post some pitching film from Long Beach.

Struggled a bit with command, but arm talent is loud. Up to 99 with run/sink, firm CT/SL hybrid 86-88 & bigger SL in low-80s. Polish necessary, but upside is loud. pic.twitter.com/bkZymfJHWn

— Tyler Jennings (@TylerJennings24) August 21, 2026

Scott has worked on some secondary offerings, which are led by an upper-80s cutter-slider hybrid. He’ll manipulate the pitch shape at times, creating more horizontal movement with carry through the zone. The arsenal is rounded out with a bigger low-to-mid-80s breaking ball with more depth and a firm upper-80s change-up.

While the secondaries do lag behind, the arm talent is undeniable, and many expect the polish to arrive in due time.

The bat has taken a step forward this summer, creating a new wrinkle in his evaluation. It’s a quiet, low-effort swing with tight turns, bat speed, and leverage present. Scott has displayed immense power in batting practice, and it’s translated to game settings to both sides of the field.

To pair with the power, Scott is running a 19% whiff rate on the circuit, battling to stave off strikeouts. He does expand the zone at a rapid clip, which is something scouts want to see come down, but the offensive upside is legitimate.

The lone 2028 at camp, Cullen Scott has felt comfortable against better competition.

Physical presence with tight turns and bat speed, crushes this pitch to deep LF. Also up to 98 on the bump on Friday. One of the best two-way players in 2028. pic.twitter.com/7HCUL2qStU

— Tyler Jennings (@TylerJennings24) July 19, 2026

His body and arm strength fit best at third base, though scouts want to see the footwork improve. His footwork can get clunky and heavy-footed, though he has good range for the position and moves well enough to stave off a move across the diamond.

Scott’s profile will be a fascinating one to follow in this cycle, and his talent is top-15 worthy in this prep class. Polishing up his tools on both sides of the ball will be necessary, but it’s hard to ignore the upside. He will be just 17 years and 2 months old on draft day, which would make him one of the youngest draftees ever if he’s taken.

[2276
5,2291,4,1586
post-788916","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-mlb-draft","tag-baseball","tag-major-league-baseball-draft","tag-mlb","tag-mlb-draft
["GET
