And yet, interim manager Andy Green has accentuated the positives.<\/p>\n
Green said he approached Ewing during Thursday\u2019s game to compliment him on his at-bats, despite the fact his hits weren\u2019t accumulating. <\/p>\n
Green cited the bad luck into which Ewing was hitting.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf you are watching the at-bat quality, he\u2019s kind of returning to what he has done for us the first part of the season,\u201d Green said before the Mets\u2019 loss. \u201cWe have got to acknowledge those things when they\u2019re happening, rather than just because the box score doesn\u2019t acknowledge that sometimes, because this is a cruel game at times. It was right for us to acknowledge he\u2019s had a number of really good at-bats here recently.\u201d<\/p>\n
Entering play Ewing\u2019s last multihit game was Aug. 7.<\/p>\n

Jorge Polanco underwent ankle surgery Wednesday, according to Green, and is expected to begin spring training in normal baseball progression. <\/p>\n
Polanco appeared in just 37 games this season as he battled bursitis in his left ankle.<\/p>\n
Green compared Yordan Alvarez (who is the American League MVP front-runner) to Barry Bonds for his ability to scare an opponent.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

There are very few people that get into that category, and he has been that this year.\u201d<\/p>\n
Alvarez began the day with an MLB-leading 1.043 OPS. He led the AL in homers (36) and batting average (.319) and was tied with Pete Alonso for the lead in RBIs with 91.<\/p>\n
He went 0-for-2 with two walks in the Astros\u2019 win on Friday.<\/p>\n
