The Mets<\/a> should be familiar with who takes the mound on Tuesday for the Tampa Bay Rays<\/a>, as he was just a part of their clubhouse about a month ago.<\/p>\n

Freddy Peralta will face off against his former team. The right-hander was dealt to the Rays at the trade deadline after a rough half of a season with the Mets after the offseason deal that brought him over from Milwaukee.<\/p>\n

Despite the familiarity, Peralta is handling it just as any other game.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a challenge,\u201d said Peralta of pitching against the Mets. \u201cEvery game for me, I think I take it the same way. I just come in to compete and try to get the win.\u201d<\/p>\n

After posting a 2.70 ERA during his All-Star campaign with the Brewers in 2025, Peralta is in the midst of a dreadful season \u2014 the bulk of which came when he called Citi Field home.<\/p>\n

The 30-year-old was 5-9 with a 4.99 ERA in 22 starts with the Mets. Peralta came with the expectations of being an ace and even he admits that he failed to meet them.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was the first time that I was struggling like that, but I never give up,\u201d Peralta said. \u201cI was always trying to find a way to feel better, to pitch better. I knew what I could do, and I was feeling good physically too and healthy, but I couldn\u2019t make an adjustment. The good thing is that now I\u2019m different, I feel different and I plan to keep going until my worst year is over.\u201d<\/p>\n

For as easy as it is to poke fun at the Mets for their abysmal season, Peralta hasn\u2019t found much success with the Rays either. The veteran owns a 5.60 ERA in five starts with the team.<\/p>\n

Despite the poor performance, Peralta still holds his time with the Mets in high regard.<\/p>\n

\u201cI made good friends there, really good friends,\u201d said Peralta. \u201cPeople there, they took care of me really well. For me, that\u2019s a little sad.\u201d<\/p>\n

Luis Robert Jr. will be joining Pete Alonso in Baltimore as the Orioles claimed the outfielder off of waivers.<\/p>\n

The O\u2019s will pay the remaining $3 million on his contract.<\/p>\n

Robert Jr. was another offseason acquisition as he was came over to the Mets in a trade with the White Sox this past offseason that included Luisangel Acuna going to Chicago.
