Meckler added six defensive runs saved to his 2026 tally in August, robbing two potential home runs in the process.

The first of those two robberies came against the Texas Rangers on Aug. 11, snatching a three-run homer from over the fence in a 3-2 win. The second came against the Philadelphia Phillies on Aug. 28, though the Angels lost after Edmundo Sosa hit a grand slam shortly after.

Meckler’s Glove this year grades above league average, as he has a plus-2 mark in both fielding run value and outs above average. That isn’t the only area in which he is performing well, though.

Related coverageIn First MLB Game Since 2023, Anaheim Native Shines in Angels Debut Read more →

The 26-year-old outfielder has played 76 games with the Angels so far, and has exceeded expectations after they claimed him off waivers in the offseason. Mandatory Credit: William Navarro-Imagn ImagesWill the Angels Keep Wade Meckler After 2026?

Meckler is only in his second year of MLB service, meaning he still has plenty of team control for the Angels to work with.

The Angels have plenty of players who can play outfield, but Meckler is certainly one of the most reliable of them—meaning they’ll almost definitely give him a 40-man roster spot in the offseason.

Meckler won’t have any complaints about staying, either.
