{"id":797154,"date":"2026-09-05T09:21:18","date_gmt":"2026-09-05T09:21:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/mlb\/797154\/"},"modified":"2026-09-05T09:21:18","modified_gmt":"2026-09-05T09:21:18","slug":"francisco-lindor-juan-soto-respect-andy-greens-personal-decision","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/mlb\/797154\/","title":{"rendered":"Francisco Lindor, Juan Soto respect Andy Green&#8217;s &#8216;personal decision&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Andy Green seems set on <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/06\/26\/sports\/meet-andy-green-the-ex-met-taking-over-as-interim-manager\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">keeping the interim tag<\/a> on his managerial role.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>And even as the Mets continue to play well with Green in the dugout, both he and the organization are prepared for him to go back to the front office in the offseason, as Green is looking to avoid the everyday grind of a managerial job.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>As president of baseball operations David Stearns said Friday, \u201cI think Andy\u2019s done a very good job in the dugout. Again, I think we will get to the point where I\u2019ll more fully describe what we\u2019re seeking in our next manager. Today\u2019s probably not the day to do that.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Francisco Lindor and Juan Soto both said after <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/09\/04\/sports\/mets-grit-out-win-to-continue-post-deadline-hot-streak-against-giants\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Friday\u2019s 10-6 win over the Giants<\/a> that Green has done a good job in his new role, but respect his decision if he opts to return to the front office after the season.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s a very personal decision,\u2019\u2019 Lindor told The Post. \u201cThat\u2019s between him and his family. We have no say in that. He has kept what he\u2019s said from Day 1 and you\u2019ve got to believe the guy. He\u2019s a very respectable guy, and honest.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Soto added, \u201cIt\u2019s tough to not know what you\u2019re gonna get next year. That\u2019s the hardest part for a player, not knowing what\u2019s gonna happen. Robert Sabo for NY Post<\/p>\n<p>And he also admired the job Green has done.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEverybody feels good with him,\u2019\u2019 Soto said. \u201cHe stays out of the players\u2019 way and lets everybody do their own thing.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>As to whether he\u2019s hoping Green changes his mind, Soto said: \u201cThat\u2019s his decision. He was a manager once [before in San Diego]. He knows what it takes. He knows what he\u2019s doing and I fully respect his decision.
