Thus far, it\u2019s been a disappointing baseball season in Beantown. After favorable projections and high hopes swept over Boston Red Sox fans towards spring training, the team now owns a fourth-place record in the AL.<\/p>\n

Many analysts now expect the Red Sox to be sellers in predictions that would jettison Aroldis Chapman and his one-year deal. But this predicted sale is expected to run much deeper than just Chapman. Rumors have spread that Jarren Duran could be on the move to make room for Roman Anthony.<\/p>\n

This season, Duran is hitting .273\/.318\/.424 with four home runs and 13 stolen bases, not quite his All-Star numbers from last year, but still a vast improvement over Marsh.<\/p>\n

One specific trade proposal would send Duran to the Phillies to replace Brandon Marsh. On Wednesday, Zachary D. Rhymer of Bleacher Report proposed a swap for<\/a> Phillies\u2019 no. 1 prospect Andrew Painter and no. 4 prospect Eduardo Tait.<\/p>\n

\u201cGiven Painter’s very real upside as a No. 1 starting pitcher, this would be a true \u2018all-in\u2019 trade for the Phillies,\u201d Rhymer wrote. \u201cKnowing how short their contention window is getting, they should arguably be looking to do exactly that sort of deal before July 31.\u201d<\/p>\n

Painter maintains a 3.18 ERA in Triple-A this season. His explosive fastball and arsenal of three genuinely plus secondary pitches make him one of the top arms in the minors.<\/p>\n

Tait won\u2019t be debuting very shortly, but his bat is worth waiting for. The 18-year-old catching prospect owns a .305 batting average with 22 home runs during his three-year career in the Phillies\u2019 farm system.<\/p>\n

Rhymer believes the Red Sox wouldn\u2019t refuse this package given Painter\u2019s ace potential. However, he does note one hurdle:<\/p>\n

\u201cIt’s the Phillies who would really be taking a risk here. They are in win-now mode, but Painter is the heir apparent for Zack Wheeler, who isn’t getting any younger. To trade a guy like that just to improve an already dangerous offense would be borderline wasteful.\u201d<\/p>\n
