{"id":805258,"date":"2026-09-15T01:51:24","date_gmt":"2026-09-15T01:51:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/mlb\/805258\/"},"modified":"2026-09-15T01:51:24","modified_gmt":"2026-09-15T01:51:24","slug":"brewers-owner-settles-bizarre-2-million-beach-dispute","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/mlb\/805258\/","title":{"rendered":"Brewers Owner Settles Bizarre $2 Million Beach Dispute"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>If you&#8217;re a Chicago Cubs fan, you probably don&#8217;t spend much time thinking about the Milwaukee Brewers&#8217; owner, but Mark Attanasio has found himself at the center of a pretty unusual controversy far from the baseball diamond.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/mlb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/attachment-gettyimages-2294228976.jpg\" alt=\"Patrick McDermott, Getty Images\" loading=\"lazy\" onload=\"this.parentNode.parentNode.classList.add('frame-loaded');\" onerror=\"this.parentNode.parentNode.classList.add('broken-image');\" fetchpriority=\"low\" width=\"6840\" height=\"4560\"\/>Patrick McDermott, Getty ImagesPatrick McDermott, Getty ImagesIllinois vs. Wisconsin Sports Fans<\/p>\n<p>Living in northern Illinois and being so close to the <a href=\"https:\/\/q985online.com\/tags\/wisconsin\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Wisconsin<\/a> border makes things interesting, especially when it comes to sports.<\/p>\n<p>Some people believe that being an Illinois resident makes you an automatic Cubs and Bears fan, yet we&#8217;re often surrounded by Brewers and Packers fans.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center\">READ MORE: <a href=\"https:\/\/q985online.com\/beloit-stadium-of-screams\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">New Halloween Attraction Coming to Beloit, Wisconsin<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Illinois-Wisconsin rivalry seems to be especially strong in northern Illinois, so I think it&#8217;s safe to say many Chicago Cubs fans enjoy hearing weird news involving the Milwaukee Brewers.<\/p>\n<p>Cubs fans, this story is for you.<\/p>\n<p>Milwaukee Brewers Owner Accused of Stealing Sand<\/p>\n<p>For more than 20 years,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mlb.com\/brewers\/team\/front-office\/mark-attanasio\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Mark Attanasio<\/a> has been the Chairman and Principal Owner of the Milwaukee Brewers.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/mlb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/attachment-gettyimages-2268531631.jpg\" alt=\"Patrick McDermott, Getty Images\" loading=\"lazy\" onload=\"this.parentNode.parentNode.classList.add('frame-loaded');\" onerror=\"this.parentNode.parentNode.classList.add('broken-image');\" fetchpriority=\"low\" width=\"5656\" height=\"3771\"\/>Patrick McDermott, Getty ImagesPatrick McDermott, Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>Attanasio is a billionaire businessman who has\u00a0apparently been involved in a very expensive California beach controversy that began in 2024 involving something I never expected to be writing about in connection with baseball: sand.<\/p>\n<p>A\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.yahoo.com\/news\/us\/articles\/billionaire-accused-stealing-sand-california-162300012.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Yahoo article<\/a> says\u00a0Attanasio&#8217;s construction operation was accused of using heavy equipment to remove sand, rocks and boulders from Malibu&#8217;s Broad Beach and move the material onto his oceanfront property while working on a seawall.<\/p>\n<p>A neighbor filed a lawsuit accusing Attanasio&#8217;s company of essentially treating a public beach like a personal sandbox, and that&#8217;s when the\u00a0California Coastal Commission\u00a0got involved.<\/p>\n<p>The Yahoo article says:<\/p>\n<p>According to the commission, the work was done without permits, damaged environmentally sensitive areas, and partially interfered with public access along the beach.<\/p>\n<p>Now, two years later, a lawsuit settlement has finally been reached, and it&#8217;s&#8230; interesting.<\/p>\n<p>According to the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.jsonline.com\/story\/news\/local\/2026\/09\/14\/brewers-owner-mark-attanasio-settles-improper-sand-removal-lawsuit\/91760383007\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"> Milwaukee Journal Sentinel<\/a>:<\/p>\n<p>As part of the settlement, Attanasio will donate an undeveloped $2 million beachfront property in Malibu and restore the area the company he hired, JILK Heavy Construction, improperly excavated.<\/p>\n<p>So, apparently, if you&#8217;re a billionaire who accidentally gets into a fight over beach sand, the solution is to give everybody a beach.<\/p>\n<p>What do you think Cubs fans would get if he accidentally stole some of the Wrigley ivy?<\/p>\n<p>15 Things That You&#8217;re Banned From Eating In Wisconsin<\/p>\n<p>Curious about foods you can&#8217;t eat in Wisconsin?
