The Mets were leading by a run, 3-2, one out in the ninth.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>And then they weren\u2019t.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Then, the partisans heard that familiar sound \u2014 thwock!! \u2014 that they\u2019d heard Alonso make at Citi Field 123 previous times across the first 299 home runs of his career. Alonso sure knew what he\u2019d done. He tossed the bat away triumphantly and took this 360-foot tour of the bases <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/09\/15\/sports\/pete-alonso-hits-300th-home-ruin-to-help-orioles-beat-mets\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">for the 300th time<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>And a few minutes after, coup de gr\u00e2ce, he took a curtain call, helmet off, hand in the air. It\u2019s hard to remember that ever happening anywhere before, let alone in New York.
