Penn State baseball celebrated coach Mike Gambino\u2019s first season with the team in 2024 with its first Big Ten championship appearance since 2000, ending a historic season in the big game.<\/p>\n
For many, this was the Penn State high. A team that sat near the bottom of the conference for much of the 21st century was now on the map.<\/p>\n
While the 2025 season didn\u2019t see the same postseason results as the year before, the Nittany Lions dominated the record books en route to a 33-win season \u2014 the most for the program since 2000.<\/p>\n
Along the way, however, Gambino and Co. dominated fellow Big Ten opponents with high-scoring performances.<\/p>\n

After going 1-1 through the first two games of the Puerto Rico Challenge, the blue and white went on a nine-game winning streak, winning by an average of 6.3 runs per game.<\/p>\n
Of those nine contests, three were ended via mercy rule as Penn State laid down the hammer, setting a program-record 23 games with 10-plus runs.<\/p>\n
Later in the season, the Nittany Lions won conference series against Indiana and Purdue at home and Northwestern, Minnesota and Rutgers on the road, marking the most Big Ten road wins since 2007 and most Big Ten series wins since 2012.<\/p>\n
The action didn\u2019t just happen against Big Ten opponents, however. Against West Virginia, Penn State broke its attendance record with 6,106 fans watching the team\u2019s 3-2 victory, all of which were fueled by the record-setting 12,112 hot dogs sold.<\/p>\n

Behind a record-setting fanbase, the Nittany Lions recorded a single-season record 108 stolen bases, led by junior Ryan Weingartner\u2019s 30 stolen bases \u2014 another program record.<\/p>\n
The team also had a record-breaking number of doubles, tallying 111 total behind junior transfer Paxton Kling\u2019s 15.<\/p>\n
These records boosted the blue and white\u2019s confidence as it worked through the 2025 season, but the Nittany Lions had individual success too.<\/p>\n
Bryce Molinaro climbed the record books during the season as he poured in RBIs. Against Indiana, the redshirt sophomore recorded five RB\u2019s as he ended the season with 61 \u2013 the second-most in Penn State history.<\/p>\n
Penn State ultimately fell short of another Big Ten championship appearance \u2014 or even an NCAA Tournament appearance \u2014 in 2025. However, it showed it has the potential to compete on the biggest stage, and with a strong returning group for 2026, Gambino\u2019s squad has the chance to put on a show in Year 3.<\/p>\n
