Almost three weeks after being placed on the injured list for the third and final time this season because of his right hip, the Twins announced Byron Buxton underwent a successful arthroscopic surgery on Friday morning.<\/p>\n
Dr. Christopher Larson performed a labral repair with decompression and a cam resection procedure on Buxton\u2019s right hip and the Twins said he was resting comfortably Friday night. When talking about the surgery a week ago, Buxton expressed optimism that he would be ready to go for the 2027 season.<\/p>\n
Buxton\u2019s hip issue stem back years, but this season, it first started forcing him off the field in May. After a brief break, he was able to play through it \u2014 and at an all-star level \u2014 but eventually he landed on the injured list in July. Between the three stints on the injured list, Buxton played in just 18 games after the all-star break, the last coming on Aug. 25 when he aggravated the hip trying to bend down to field a ball in the outfield.<\/p>\n
\u201cI had those good days and bad days,\u201d Buxton said last week. \u201cI had a stretch where I\u2019d go 4-for-8 and go, \u2018I\u2019m about to turn the page.\u2019 Then, the next four days I was like, \u2018I don\u2019t know if I\u2019m going to be able to turn the bat this at-bat.\u2019 I just took it day by day. We tried to manage it as best we could, keep the inflammation down. Honestly, I don\u2019t know what else we could have done to prevent it from getting where it\u2019s at. We did the shot. Gave it rest. Gave me a few years. I guess time just caught up to it.<\/p>\n

Fellow outfielder Trevor Larnach joined Buxton on the injured list ahead of Friday night\u2019s game in Anaheim with a left wrist sprain. Larnach had missed the Twins\u2019 last four games as he dealt with the injury.
