Howie Rose\u2019s final broadcast wasn\u2019t just an emotional one<\/a> for the beloved Mets voice, it was for his family too.\u00a0<\/p>\n

His daughter Alyssa took to social media on Monday<\/a> to thank \u201ceveryone who made yesterday the most special day of the Rose family\u2019s life,\u201d while also sharing the surprise significance of Francisco Lindor being the final Mets player to bat in Rose\u2019s broadcast career.<\/p>\n

\u201cOne thing about the Mets that is indisputable is that they\u2019re a family organization. If you love the Mets, it\u2019s because of a connection to someone special in your family. That came so full circle for me yesterday,\u201d Alyssa wrote on X. \u201cI was born in July, obviously, during baseball season. At some point on the day I was born, my dad called into the station to tell them his daughter was born. During the game, they played \u2018My Girl\u2019 on the air.<\/p>\n

\u201cOf all of the final At Bats my dad could have called, for it to be Lindor, whose walk up song is, as well know, \u2018My Girl\u2019, it was clear that wasn\u2019t a coincidence. That was the universe\u2019s way of reminding me that for my dad and me, it all starts and ends with me being his girl and it all starts and ends with the New York Mets.\u201d<\/p>\n

She ended the post by saying, \u201cSee you in 2027, Citi Field,\u201d alluding to the planned ceremony to honor <\/a>her father that will take place next season after inclement weather on Sunday forced it to be postponed.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Rose announced prior to the start of the 2026 MLB season that he would be stepping away from the microphone in September, ending a Mets tenure that started in 1996 when he began calling the team\u2019s games on television.\u00a0<\/p>\n
