ABC7 Chicago is now streaming 24\/7. Click here to watch<\/a><\/p>\nAt Old Crow Smokehouse in Wrigleyville, owner Sam Sanchez is preparing for a busy stretch as Cubs fans gather to watch late-night playoff games.<\/p>\n
“It’s like Christmas to us. You get it. It’s great!” Sanchez said.<\/p>\n
On the South Side, Wings and Rings is also anticipating large crowds for fans watching the White Sox take on Houston in afternoon games.<\/p>\n
“October baseball is always the best especially when it’s at home,” said Jessie Garcia of Wings and Rings.<\/p>\n
Nearby at Ballpark Pub, White Sox fan Joan Colby said she is counting on a return trip home for the team. Wearing her 2005 White Sox World Series ring for good luck, she expressed confidence in the club’s chances.<\/p>\n
“So, the Sox are coming back here next week? Yes. I am absolutely sure,” Colby said.<\/p>\n
Other fans are hoping both Chicago teams can make deep postseason runs.<\/p>\n
“I just what advancement and a long run from both teams,” said White Sox fan Keith Smith.<\/p>\n
Cubs fans expressed similar optimism.<\/p>\n
“They’re a little up and down, but I think if they focus and play hard, they can make a good run,” said Cubs fan Maddie Lennox.<\/p>\n
Business leaders say a successful postseason can benefit an entire neighborhood. Mary Nedbalski of the Lakeview East Chamber of Commerce said playoff baseball brings additional energy and customers to local bars and restaurants.<\/p>\n
“October baseball is always a privilege in this neighborhood. One, we don’t get all that often. So, it’s been nice to see our bars and restaurants stepping up,” Nedbalski said.<\/p>\n
If either team, or both, advance beyond the opening round, business owners and fans expect the excitement around Chicago’s baseball teams to continue building in the weeks ahead.<\/p>\n
