Acquired by the Mets at the 2026 trade deadline from the Philadelphia Phillies as part of the return for Brooks Raley, Gabrysh is looking like a potential heist.

Gabrysh being a starter is notable, as most of this list is dominated by relievers who can maximize their stuff in shorter outings. Gabrysh threw 93.1 innings this season and is the fifth-ranked starter on this list. His slider is his best pitch, and it even received the highest Stuff+ rating of any pitcher in minor league baseball. It’s actually a sweeper, and MMO recently broke down what makes it such a standout pitch.

His season was so-so numbers-wise, finishing with a 5.30 ERA and 1.32 WHIP, but there are reasons to be optimistic. He strikes out a lot of batters, doesn’t have a walk problem and gets ground balls at an above-average rate. Plus, the fly balls he did allow turned into home runs at an unsustainable rate. That will surely come down in 2027, which will be a big help to his ERA. The pieces are there for a breakout. He finished this season with a cameo at Double-A and will certainly return there to begin 2027, and there’s a small chance he could make his MLB debut towards the end of the year if things go well. That’s a long shot, though; 2028 is much more likely.

The highest overall pitcher on the list for the Mets is Cristofer Gomez, who finished ninth among all players. Gomez also appeared on the list of best sliders, a decent bit behind Gabrysh but still well within the top 20. He’s exclusively a reliever, and while he’s posted big strikeout numbers throughout his career, he has also posted big walk rates. It needs to come down before a big league promotion becomes a conversation.

Next up is Joe Scarborough, and he actually had the third-best fastball in the minors in 2026. Here’s the good news: The fastball is nasty. He sits at 96.5 mph and can run it up to 99 with big IVB and spin numbers. Here’s the bad news: He walked 20.5% of batters in 2026. Scarborough was a 19th-round pick in 2025, and he is exactly the kind of player teams should be taking with their late-round picks. Look for one elite trait, and then try to develop the rest. Scarborough has an elite fastball. The command, obviously, needs some work. He gets a ton of whiff, but he doesn’t incentivize hitters to swing much. If he can be in the zone more, hitters will be forced to swing, and then they won’t be able to hit it. If he can figure it out—and it’s a big if—there’s considerable upside here.

Rounding out the Mets’ top 3, and the last before Gabrysh appears on the overall list, is Dan Hammer. After six seasons in the Baltimore Orioles organization and one with the Tampa Bay Rays, Hammer signed with the Mets as a minor league free agent in March. He even got called up to the big leagues in July, but was sent back down one day later without appearing in a game. Hammer throws hard, gets a ton of swing-and-miss, and, unsurprisingly, walks a ton of batters. His brief promotion would indicate the Mets believe he is at least close enough with his control to try in the bigs, but evidently he’s still a bit off. He’s one name I’m really interested in following to see if he can make a big league impact in 2027.

Zach Franklin, another Mets trade deadline acquisition, also appears on this list. Acquired as part of the return for Huascar Brazobán, Franklin has a killer fastball/splitter combo that helps him rack up punchouts and a slower slider that produced the best numbers of the trio when batters made contact. He’s a below-average strike thrower but has managed to not turn it into a problem walk rate so far. He’s someone who is close to a guarantee to get big league innings in 2027 as long as he keeps doing what he did in 2026, and a likely candidate to be on the shuttle from Syracuse to Queens and back throughout the year. He and Gabe Davis, the other half of the return, both have enough upside to make this a potentially really good return for Brazobán.

Ben Simon‘s on this list too, with a four-seam, slider, and changeup that all play. He’s a strikeout pitcher and usually strikes out batters at an above-average clip, but his strikeout numbers fell off a cliff when he got to Triple-A this season. It will be crucial to see if he can get back to where he normally sits, around 25-29% next season.

Tyler McLoughlin is the penultimate Met listed, and he’s a very similar case to Scarborough. He has a big fastball that, while not quite as hard, can still get up into the high 90s. He gets a lot of strikeouts and has an unsustainable walk rate. A 10th-round pick whom the Mets went significantly underslot to sign, inking him for just $7,500, McLoughlin is another pitcher with big stuff and big work needed on his command.

Finally, there’s Saul García, who has been with the Mets for over half a decade now. He broke out in 2025 when he posted a 1.70 ERA across High-A and Double-A, and while he wasn’t as successful in 2026, he was still really good. In a way, it was more successful, as he finally got his walk rate under 10%, getting all the way down to 8.8%. His previous career best was 12.6%, so it was a huge improvement. He made it to Triple-A by the end of the year, too, so he’s a candidate to make his MLB debut at some point in 2026.

Cameron Weston appeared on the list for the best two-seam/sinkers, with the fourth-best one in the minors. The Mets claimed him late in the year after he was DFA’d by the Orioles, and he was really good in Syracuse in limited action. Noah Hall and Frank Camarillo appeared on the list for changeups.

A recent Baseball America story listed eight Mets pitchers among the top 150 for minor league Stuff+, and…

[2290
5,79872,30987,100936,78329,100937,33044,91582,13005,22033,100938,71259
post-831792","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-baseball","tag-baseball","tag-ben-simon","tag-cameron-weston","tag-cristofer-gomez","tag-dan-hammer","tag-frank-camarillo","tag-joe-scarborough","tag-luke-gabrysh","tag-noah-hall","tag-saul-garcia","tag-tyler-mcloughlin","tag-zach-franklin
["GET
