At the start of yesterday, it looked like Stephen Vogt\u2019s future was going to become one of the biggest storylines<\/a> of the Guardians\u2019 offseason.\u00a0<\/p>\n

While Vogt is still under contract for the foreseeable future, his connections to the Pacific Northwest were more than enough fodder<\/a> to make it seem like there was some smoke to fire connecting him to the Mariners managerial opening.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Well, Vogt blew all that smoke out yesterday<\/a> when he told reporters he was coming back to Cleveland in his end-of-season press conference. Even if Vogt\u2019s chances of going to Seattle were slim, his empathic statement confirmed the Guardians are still going to be a contender in 2027.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Even if the Guardians could be on the brink of an offseason that could change the makeup of their roster, Vogt has proven that any team managed by him always has a chance to be playing in October.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In 2024 he and the Guardians surprised all of MLB by making a wild run toward the American League Championship Series, and they arguably did one better the next season when they authored a crazy September comeback to win the American League Central. Both of those performances led to Vogt winning American League Manager of the Year.\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n

He may not win the award this year thanks to the White Sox\u2019s turnaround, but this year was just as much of a masterclass.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Next year could be different in just how different the Guardians\u2019 roster looks. We know that Jos\u00e9 Ram\u00edrez is going to be entrenched in the middle of Cleveland\u2019s lineup alongside Chase DeLauter, but everything else around that could look different.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Not only is Steven Kwan just a year away<\/a> from free agency and is set to make $11 million via arbitration, but players like Angel Mart\u00ednez, Jo Adell and even Brayan Rocchio could be on the move this winter as the Guardians look to clear out numerous positional logjams. Heck, even Austin Hedges could end up elsewhere as he looks to capitalize on his career year at the plate.\u00a0<\/p>\n

That kind of instability is nothing new for the Guardians under Vogt, but it could lead to the biggest year-over-year change that he\u2019s experienced in his time with the team. <\/p>\n

Regardless of the changes, the one thing that should stay consistent in the culture established in the Guardians\u2019 clubhouse, which begins and ends with Vogt. He\u2019s one of the more personable and relatable leaders in all of baseball, and has figured out how to get the most out of every roster.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Guardians may not look different next year, but the man at the top step of the dugout is going to look the same. That\u2019s more than enough at this juncture. <\/p>\n
