President of baseball operations Buster Posey has his work cut out for him, and it doesn’t seem like the Giants will be going after the biggest names on the market.

Pitching is the biggest area to address and they’ll likely need to add at least two starting pitchers to the rotation and a couple of legitimate bullpen arms including a closer. An extra outfielder might not be a bad idea either. I’m going to take a stab at the five signings Posey will make this offseason to fill some holes. Surely I’ll be wrong on most of it and will look like a fool but hey, that’s what the offseason is for!

Guessing the five free agents Giants will sign this offseason

Kevin Gausman

After a bad season, it’s not a terrible idea to bring back a familiar face who was on the team the last time it reached the playoffs. Kevin Gausman transformed into a really good pitcher with the Giants and probably the biggest mistake Farhan Zaidi made was not re-signing him after the 2021 season.

Posey has a chance to right that wrong even though Gausman is coming off his worst year since departing the Giants as he had a 4.51 ERA in 32 starts between his time with the Toronto Blue Jays and Chicago Cubs.

I think they will give him a two-year, $50 million deal and hope that by bringing him back to the Bay Area and reuniting him with Logan Webb he’ll have a better 2027.

Shota Imanaga

The Giants certainly have their pick of pitchers who ended last season with the Cubs, and Imanaga just makes a lot of sense for them. He doesn’t issue a lot of walks and even though he gives up a lot of home runs maybe that gets nullified a little by pitching in Oracle Park.

I think he will get a two-year, $38 million deal from San Francisco which is roughly what MLB Trade Rumors predicted.

Kenley Jansen

San Francisco needs a closer after the bullpen really struggled in the ninth inning last season, but don’t expect them to go after the high-end options. Veteran Kenley Jansen makes a lot of sense and could record his 500th career save in a Giants uniform which would surely annoy Los Angeles Dodgers fans just a little.

A one-year, $12 million deal would probably be enough to sign him. Think of it like the Justin Verlander signing, which actually worked well for the Giants, but for a closer.

JoJo Romero

I really loved seeing left-handed reliever JoJo Romero strike out Dodgers stars in the NLCS with the Milwaukee Brewers and San Francisco could use a left-handed option in the bullpen. He had a 3.36 ERA on the season in 55 appearances between the Brewers and St. Louis Cardinals and would give the Giants another lefty option in the bullpen other than Sam Hentges.

A two-year, $15 million deal would be a smart addition by the Giants.

Randal Grichuk

The Giants are in a weird spot with their outfield in that they probably don’t want to just hand the keys to the young guys yet but they also don’t want to block a young player like Bo Davidson from playing time. Randal Grichuk makes sense as a sort of insurance option who could be had for cheap but at least gives San Francisco a little more veteran depth and he hits right-handed which they’re a little light on.

He hit .287/.314/.566 with 15 homers and 46 RBI in 2026 with the New York Yankees and Chicago White Sox with most of that damage coming against lefties.

The Giants could probably get him for a one-year, $2 million deal and if he doesn’t pan out then they can try to trade him or just move on from him and let Victor Bericoto take his place.

Signing these five guys this offseason wouldn’t blow anyone way, but it would at least give the Giants some solid pitchers and an extra outfield bat which might be all the team needs to turn things around in 2027.

Crazier things have happened. The White Sox lost 102 games in 2025 and then made the playoffs in 2026 so maybe the Giants are due some good luck.

Add us as a preferred source on GoogleFollow

[2408
5,162,4,378,66,4343,4340,4344,4341,4342
post-846703","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-san-francisco-giants","tag-baseball","tag-giants","tag-mlb","tag-san-francisco","tag-san-francisco-giants","tag-sanfrancisco","tag-sanfranciscogiants","tag-sf","tag-sf-giants","tag-sfgiants
["GET
