Giants\u2019 social media department is \u201cbehind the scenes at every home game and almost every road game, providing video snippets and packages, interviews, news, the occasional meme and &#8212; now and then &#8212; ticket discounts,\u201d according to Susan Slusser of the S.F. CHRONICLE. The work of the department, made up of seven employees, \u201cspans marketing, community relations and public relations and weaves in aspects of journalism, history, comedy and visual arts.\u201d Teams \u201cdon\u2019t just generate interest and resulting ticket and merchandise sales via social media, they also collect valuable data that helps to tailor ads and offers to individual fans, and the reach is international.\u201d For Spanish-speaking fans, the Giants have three \u201cGigantes\u201d accounts, and CF\u202fJung Hoo Lee\u2019s interpreter, Justin Han, \u201chelps with social media posts for the Korean audience.\u201d Across a dozen platforms, the Giants \u201cstrive for a consistent voice, which can be tricky given the many accounts and the larger staff size.\u201d There are \u201csome guidelines &#8212; keep things positive, light, conversational &#8212; but nothing is too onerous.\u201d Unlike some teams, the Giants \u201cprefer not to tweak or antagonize their opponents much,\u201d and \u201cwhen they do, it tends to be subtle.\u201d The department \u201ckeeps an eye on what other pro teams are doing with their accounts,\u201d but it is \u201cjust as likely to draw ideas and references from pop culture or fashion, art or food trends &#8212; or social influencers\u201d (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sfchronicle.com\/sports\/giants\/article\/giants-social-media-team-keep-grow-audience-20361400.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.sfchronicle.com\/sports\/giants\/article\/giants-social-media-team-keep-grow-audience-20361400.php\">S.F. CHRONICLE, 6\/6<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph sections-franchises \">DRAWING A CROWD: In San Jose, Joseph Dycus noted thousands of fans formed sprawling lines around Oracle Park hours before the Giants faced the Braves on Sunday afternoon, and almost all \u201cwere braving the massive crowds in hopes of being one of the first 15,000 fans to receive a special Hello Kitty jersey.\u201d The Japanese cat mascot has become popular both in other Asian countries and around the world, and its merchandise was \u201ccertainly coveted before the Giants game that was expected to sell out the stadium with a capacity of 42,300.\u201d The game\u2019s first pitch was thrown out by the life-sized Hello Kitty mascot (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mercurynews.com\/2025\/06\/08\/hello-kitty-brings-massive-crowds-to-oracle-park-for-sf-giants-vs-braves-game\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.mercurynews.com\/2025\/06\/08\/hello-kitty-brings-massive-crowds-to-oracle-park-for-sf-giants-vs-braves-game\/\">San Jose MERCURY NEWS, 6\/8<\/a>).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The S.F.
