As the top prospect in baseball, the Red Sox<\/a> are naturally hoping Roman Anthony will evolve into their next star player.<\/p>\n

On Tuesday, Anthony<\/a> notched his first career hit, a two-run double, that pushed Boston past Tampa, 3-1 on Tuesday<\/a><\/p>\n

April 20, 1939<\/a> vs. New York \u2014 Against Red Ruffing of the Yankees, Williams hit a two-out double in the fourth inning in his second plate appearance of the game.<\/p>\n

Carlton Fisk <\/p>\n

Sept. 12, 1971 vs. Tigers<\/a> \u2014 Fisk first came up and played two September games in 1969 and was a combined 0-for-6. He didn\u2019t return to the majors again until 1971 when he was a September call-up. He was hitless in his first four games, but he broke through with a solo home run in the third inning off of Les Cain for his first home run.<\/p>\n

Carl Yastrzemski<\/p>\n

April 11, 1961 vs. Kansas City Athletics \u2014 On Opening Day of his rookie season against the A\u2019s, Yaz had a line drive single to left in the bottom of the second against Ray Hebert in his first career plate appearance. The A\u2019s catcher that day was Haywood Sullivan, who went on to be a part-owner of the Red Sox.<\/p>\n

Jim Rice<\/p>\n

Aug. 21, 1974 <\/a>vs. Chicago White Sox \u2014 In his second game after being called up, Rice singled leading off the bottom of the fifth against Wilbur Wood to help support Roger Moret\u2019s one-hitter.<\/p>\n

Fred Lynn<\/p>\n

Sept. 15, 1974<\/a> vs. Brewers\u2014In Lynn\u2019s fourth game after a September call-up in 1974, he led off the top of the second with a home run off Jim Slaton that his the right field foul pole.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u201cIt was a home run off Jim Slaton in Milwaukee,\u201d Lynn said on Boston Baseball History. \u201cWhat a thrill. I\u2019ll never forget it.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n

Sept. 17, 1972<\/a> vs. Indians \u2014 In his second career game, Evans was a ninth-inning pinch-hitter for Red Sox pitcher Gary Peters. Against Hall of Famer Gaylord Perry, he had a line-drive single to left.<\/p>\n

Wade Boggs<\/p>\n

April 26, 1982<\/a> vs. Chicago White Sox – A year before Richard Dotson won 22 games, he gave up a single to Wade Boggs leading off the top of the eighth. Boggs, who had 3,010 career hits, went on to score the winning run.<\/p>\n

Babe Ruth<\/p>\n

Oct. 2, 2014<\/a> vs. Yankees \u2014 In the third game of his career, he had a double to right leading off the seventh off of King Cole.<\/p>\n

Tony Conigliaro<\/p>\n

April 16, 1964<\/a> vs. Yankees \u2014The beloved Red Sox slugger singled to left off future Hall of Famer Whitey Ford in the top of the sixth inning at Yankee Stadium<\/p>\n

Nomar Garciaparra <\/p>\n

Sept. 1, 1996<\/a> vs. Oakland \u2014 The beloved Red Sox shortstop\u2019s first career hit was a solo home run in the top of the fourth off of former Boston gopher-baller John Wasdin.<\/p>\n
