The 6-foot-4, 225-pound catcher even had two stolen bases!\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tIt&#8217;s interesting to note that the Twins faced Seattle&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/g\/guarded01.shtml?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=twinsdaily.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-06-11_br\" rel=\"external nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Eddie Guardado<\/a> and Baltimore&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/h\/hawkila01.shtml?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=twinsdaily.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-06-11_br\" rel=\"external nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">LaTroy Hawkins<\/a> during this hot streak. Mauer\u00a0was the first player since fellow catcher <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/p\/piazzmi01.shtml?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=twinsdaily.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-06-11_br\" rel=\"external nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Mike Piazza<\/a> in 1997 to reach base four or more times in five straight games, as he continued establishing his credentials as one of the best offensive players in the history of that position. Mauer went on to be named AL Player of the Month after batting .452 with a .528 on-base percentage and 1.152 OPS in June.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tLiriano Strikes Out Seven Straight<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/l\/liriafr01.shtml?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=twinsdaily.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-06-11_br\" rel=\"external nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Francisco Liriano<\/a> tied <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/m\/merriji01.shtml?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=twinsdaily.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-06-11_br\" rel=\"external nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jim Merritt<\/a>&#8216;s Twins record with seven consecutive strikeouts in a 2-1 win over Atlanta on this date in 2010. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/m\/maedake01.shtml?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=twinsdaily.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-06-11_br\" rel=\"external nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Kenta Maeda<\/a> later broke the record, with eight straight punchouts on Aug. 18, 2020.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tOn Jun. 11, 2010\u2014the first season at Target Field\u2014the Twins faced all-time great <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/h\/hudsoti01.shtml?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=twinsdaily.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-06-11_br\" rel=\"external nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Tim Hudson<\/a> and Atlanta in a matchup of first-place teams. Atlanta played small ball to manufacture a 1-0 lead in the second inning, with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/g\/glaustr01.shtml?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=twinsdaily.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-06-11_br\" rel=\"external nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Troy Glaus<\/a> moving to third on a sac bunt and scoring on a groundout. Liriano buckled down from there, though, completing eight innings and allowing just the one run on five hits, no walks, and striking out 11, including seven consecutive over a stretch from the third to fifth innings. It was Rauch\u2019s 16th save of the season.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tBurgmeier Pitches Eight Innings of Scoreless Relief<br \/>After Red Sox starter <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/o\/ojedabo01.shtml?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=twinsdaily.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-06-11_br\" rel=\"external nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Bob Ojeda<\/a> had a tough top of the first, St. Cloud native <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/b\/burgmto01.shtml?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=twinsdaily.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-06-11_br\" rel=\"external nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Tom Burgmeier<\/a> entered in the second and pitched eight innings of scoreless relief to beat Cleveland on this date in 1982.\n<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tKindall Hits for the Cycle<br \/>St. Paul native\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/k\/kindaje01.shtml?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=twinsdaily.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-06-11_br\" rel=\"external nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jerry Kindall<\/a> hit for the cycle playing for the Golden Gophers versus Ole Miss in the College World Series on this date in 1956. He was the\u00a0only player to hit for the cycle in College World Series history until Tennessee&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/register\/player.fcgi?id=moore-008chr&amp;utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=twinsdaily.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-06-11_br\" rel=\"external nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Christian Moore<\/a> did so in 2024. The Gophers went on to win the College World Series, defeating Arizona in the championship game. That Arizona team included Minnesota native\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/t\/thomaca01.shtml?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=twinsdaily.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-06-11_br\" rel=\"external nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Carl Thomas<\/a>, who pitched a two-hit shutout in the College World Series the previous year. After playing parts of nine seasons in the majors, Kindall went on to a legendary coaching career at the University of Arizona.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tMillers Infielder Hits Four Home Runs|<br \/>On this date in 1895, Minneapolis Millers third baseman <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/k\/kuehnbi01.shtml?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=twinsdaily.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-06-11_br\" rel=\"external nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Bill Kuehne<\/a> had the second professional four-home run game on Minnesota soil, and the first by a member of a Minnesota team.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tThe first four-home run game in professional baseball history was by St. Paul native <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/c\/crookja01.shtml?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=twinsdaily.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-06-11_br\" rel=\"external nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jack Crooks<\/a>, playing in St. Paul for the visiting Omaha Omahogs in 1889.\n<\/p>\n<p>Are you interested in Twins history?
