Nobody knows.<\/p>\n<p class=\"story-text \" data-index=\"2\">With the Reds leading 3-0 after the top of the fourth inning, Greene took two warm-up pitches and felt a a grab in his right groin area.<\/p>\n<p>Explore<a class=\"headline\" href=\"https:\/\/www.daytondailynews.com\/sports\/mccoy-50-years-ago-this-week-the-reds-great-eight-lineup-began-making-history\/KU7VKBHSXNCXBGRMWC5MOYRFZA\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">McCoy: 50 years ago this week, the Great Eight lineup began making history<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"story-text \" data-index=\"4\">After a gathering of the minds on the mound, Greene left the game.<\/p>\n<p class=\"story-text \" data-index=\"5\">\u201cAfter a couple of (warm-up) pitches, I just felt my groin grab, just didn\u2019t feel like I\u2019d be at my best or, honestly, keep the team in it if I continued to throw and stayed in it,\u201d said Greene.<\/p>\n<p class=\"story-text \" data-index=\"7\">Asked how bad he thought the injury is, he said, \u201cI have no clue, I\u2019m not a doctor, so I have to see what it is tomorrow.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"story-text \" data-index=\"9\">Greene was a doctor of domination for his three innings after leadoff hitter TJ Friedl gave him a 3-0 lead with home runs in his first two at bats.<\/p>\n<p class=\"story-text \" data-index=\"10\">Greene\u2019s fastball was an invisible blur to the Braves. He struck out Nick Allen with a slider, then did away with Alex Verdugo with a 101 miles an hour freight train. His last out was a line drive to center by Austin Riley.<\/p>\n<p class=\"story-text \" data-index=\"17\">\u201cI feel like I\u2019m very strong in that area (groin),\u201d said Greene, adding that he\u2019s never had a groin injury before. \u201cA lot of us pitchers try to focus on our recovery after we pitch on our upper extremities, as opposed to our lower body. So being strong there sometimes it goes past our focus because we make sure our upper body recovers. That\u2019s my diagnosis on it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"story-text \" data-index=\"18\">After the awesome beginning, having to shut it down isn\u2019t easy for a dogged competitor like Greene.<\/p>\n<p class=\"story-text \" data-index=\"19\">\u201cIt\u2019s part of the game,\u201d he said. \u201cBeing at the forefront of the rotation, obviously it\u2019s tough&#8230; me being super competitive out there. I\u2019ll make sure I put my best foot forward to put myself in the best position to get myself back out there.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"story-text \" data-index=\"20\">The back end of the bullpen shut it down after the Braves crept to within 4-3 after six.<\/p>\n<p class=\"story-text \" data-index=\"22\">Friedl led the game with a full-count home run, after falling behind 0-and-2. He had pitched 102\u2153 innings during his career and never gave up a home run to a left-handed hitter.<\/p>\n<p class=\"story-text \" data-index=\"26\">Just to make certain it was no fluke, Friedl hit another homer off Holmes in the third, once again into the Braves bullpen.<\/p>\n<p class=\"story-text \" data-index=\"28\">The Reds added a fourth run in the fourth inning on Tyler Stephenson\u2019s single as he recovered from striking out five times during <a href=\"https:\/\/www.daytondailynews.com\/sports\/mccoy-reds-fall-to-braves-on-10th-inning-walk-off-single-drop-below-500\/4SOU3GHOA5GZROLDKCTLAAIS7A\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Tuesday\u2019s 2-1 10-inning loss to the Braves.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"story-text \" data-index=\"29\">It was Recover Act Night for the Reds. Closer Emilio Pagan blew a 1-0 lead in the ninth inning Tuesday, but was back on the mound again Wednesday in the ninth inning, once again with a one-run lead (4-3).<\/p>\n<p class=\"story-text \" data-index=\"30\">A first-batter walk Tuesday did him in and he went to full counts on the first two Braves in the ninth Wednesday. (AP Photo\/Butch Dill)\" fetchpriority=\"auto\" width=\"1600\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"photo-credit-text\">Credit: AP<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/mlb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/[object Object]\" class=\"image-expand\" alt=\"icon to expand image\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"photo-credit-text\">Credit: AP<\/p>\n<p class=\"story-text \" data-index=\"34\">\u201cNot a surprise that Emilio came in and straightened it out,\u201d Greene said of Pagan\u2019s performance. \u201cIt\u2019s always fun to watch him go out there and compete and finish the deal for the team.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"story-text \" data-index=\"35\">After Stephenson\u2019s run-scoring single in the fourth, the Reds managed one hit over the final five innings.<\/p>\n<p class=\"story-text \" data-index=\"36\">And with the Braves chipping away, clean bullpen help was needed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"story-text \" data-index=\"37\">And they got it after Brent Suter gave up a solo home run to Drake Baldwin and the Braves scored two runs in the sixth off Scott Barlow and Taylor Rogers that cut the lead to 4-3.<\/p>\n<p class=\"story-text \" data-index=\"38\">Rookie flame thrower Luiss Mey pitched the seventh and retired the Braves on eight pitches and struck out one.
