The Toronto Blue Jays had a better performance against the Los Angeles Angels on Wednesday after an 8-3 loss on Tuesday. They were up 4-2 going into the bottom of the ninth inning thanks to an RBI single by Anthony Santander, an RBI single by Myles Straw, and a two-run single by Bo Bichette.<\/p>\n

Second baseman Andr\u00e9s Gim\u00e9nez, who scored on the Bichette hit, was 1-for-3 before getting subbed out for Addison Barger in the bottom of the seventh inning. The 26-year-old is slashing .192\/.271\/.304 with three homers and 10 RBI this season.<\/p>\n

The Blue Jays clarified what happened to Gim\u00e9n\u00e9z on social media.<\/p>\n

“UPDATE: 2B Andr\u00e9s Gim\u00e9nez was removed from tonight’s game as a precaution with right quad tightness,” they announced.<\/p>\n

Gimenez is in his first season with the Blue Jays after they acquired him from the Cleveland Guardians in the offseason.<\/p>\n

Toronto lost 5-4 due to a walk-off three-run double by Angels right fielder Jorge Soler. Closer Jeff Hoffman blew his first save of the season.<\/p>\n

The Blue Jays are now 16-20 and on a four-game losing streak. They’re tied with the Tampa Bay Rays for third place in the AL East, 2.5 games ahead of the last-place Baltimore Orioles.<\/p>\n

Toronto has already lost its series against Los Angeles ahead of Thursday night’s matchup. After that, the Blue Jays will face the Seattle Mariners on the road before hosting the Rays, Detroit Tigers, and San Diego Padres.\u00a0Then, they’ll go back on the road to face Tampa Bay and the Texas Rangers.<\/p>\n
