The Kentucky Wildcats basketball team hasn’t landed any commitments from the 2026 class yet, but they are hard at work on building relationships, and making offers. The latest name on that list is guard Deron Rippey Jr., who received a scholarship offer from the Wildcats.

Rippey is a 6’2″, 175 lb point guard out of New Jersey. He is currently rated four stars by 247Sports and ranks as the number 18 overall player in the 2026 class. He’s their number five point guard in his class, and the top player from New Jersey.

Kentucky is just the latest school to court Rippey. Louisville, North Carolina, Indiana, Kansas, plus a number of SEC teams are just some of the schools who have offered him a scholarship. More will likely follow suit as well.

Having a quality point guard is a necessity for a successful college basketball team. Guard play is key in the NCAA Tournament, and particularly at point guard. Adding an elite point guard prospect like Rippey would be a nice win for Pope and Kentucky. Fans will want to continue to monitor the situation.
