The Toronto Raptors are reportedly planning a deal to trade RJ Barrett over the likes of Scottie Barnes, Brandon and Gradey Dick during the NBA offseason. The development came after the fact that the Raptors are interested in acquiring the Phoenix Suns’ superstar Kevin Durant. Toronto has had a series of disappointing seasons, with 30, 25 and 41 games in the last three seasons. They have also not been able to qualify for the playoffs all these years. 

Toronto already has a pool of talented players including names such as Scottie Barnes, Brandon Ingram, RJ Barrett, Jakob Poeltl, Immanuel Quickley, Gradey Dick, and Ochai Agbaji. According to the latest report by NBA Insider Evan Sidrey, the franchise is planning to let go of Barrett, and want to prioritize Barnes, Ingram and Dick as their starting wing trio.

Notably, the Canadian has been with the Raptors for two seasons, and maintains a career average of 18.8 points, 5.6 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game.

He was shooting 46.8% and 35.0% from the three-point range. 

Barrett began his journey at the Duke Blue Devils, where in his sole season, he was named a member of the Sporting News’ All-American First Team, ACC All-Freshman team and the All-ACC First Team. Over time, Barrett has developed significantly, both personally and professionally, and it is to be seen how his NBA journey unfolds. He is a young player and with his enthusiasm and determination, he would aim to become the next NBA star.
