Clippers Not Interested in Trading Ivica Zubac This Offseason originally appeared on Athlon Sports.

Despite not appearing on his list of preferred trade destinations, the Los Angeles Clippers still seem to be in the mix for Kevin Durant.

According to recent reports, that list only includes the Houston Rockets, San Antonio Spurs, and Miami Heat.

However, a new report from ESPN’s Brian Windhorst (via NBA Central) revealed that the Phoenix Suns aren’t interested in what those teams have had to offer in exchange for the 15-time All-Star.

Meanwhile, it appears the Suns actually are interested in one particular piece of the Clippers’ roster.

In a recent post for The Stein Line, Jake L Fischer reveled that Ivica Zubac is a player that would interest the Suns in a deal for Durant.

Unfortunately for the Suns, Zubac won’t be an option for them as Fischer also added that the Clippers have no interest in trading Zubac.

“We’ve been consistently told LA has no desire to part with Ivica Zubac…”

This makes a ton of sense for the Clippers. Giving up Zubac would completely change how they need to play.

Despite having very little help around him down low, Zubac was a dominant interior defender this past season. It’s a big part of why the Clippers finished in the top five in points allowed.

Giving him up would leave the Clippers with absolutely no options down low and likely looking to fill his spot with a lesser free agent option.

Landing Durant would be huge for the Clippers, but the move would be a whole lot less beneficial if they have to give up Zubac in the process.

Luckily for them, the market for Durant hasn’t been as robust as it initially seemed, so there may still be a chance they can get a deal done with just a couple of first rounders and some solid veterans.
