STORRS, CT (WFSB) – University of Connecticut men’s basketball freshman forward Liam McNeeley declared for the NBA draft.
McNeeley posted to Instagram on Tuesday that he planned to move on to pursue his childhood dream.
“I can’t thank God enough for the opportunity that I was given this year,” McNeeley wrote. “I thank my coaches and teammates that I was blessed to play alongside, and I am very grateful for the time we spent together. I have been honored to play for this historic and legendary program. I will do my best to carry on the legacy of UConn, as I pursue my childhood dream of declaring for the 2025 NBA draft.”
Bleacher Report this week put McNeely as the 16th pick of the San Antonio Spurs.
If that pans out, he would join fellow UConn alumni Stephon Castle.
McNeeley averaged 14.5 points, 6 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game for the Huskies. He shot 38.1 percent from the field.
