YUKON, Okla. (KFOR) — With Game 6 of the NBA Finals on the horizon for the Oklahoma City Thunder, planning is already underway if the Thunder win it all and we end up having a parade in Oklahoma City.
A special city council meeting in Yukon on Tuesday morning with a unanimous vote to approve the Yukon Police Department helping Oklahoma City police with security, should the Thunder clinch the NBA title and a victory parade is held.

“I look at this as an honor that our police department’s been invited to assist Oklahoma City police in this. I think it gives a sign to our department that we’ve got a good police department and they’re well trained,” said Adam Shriver, City of Yukon, Ward 4.
The official plans are still ongoing as Game 6, and a possible Game 7, still haven’t happened yet.
“We’ll have meetings right up till Friday with Oklahoma City and all of the partner agencies,” said Chief John Corn, Yukon Police Department.
Yukon Police Chief John Corn said it’s an elaborate planning process.
“At a minimum, 600,000 people in downtown Oklahoma City should the Thunder bring the championship back home,” said Chief Corn.
Now, all eyes are on the Thunder as they head into Game 6 on Thursday.

Yukon Police will still have regular staff working in Yukon, even if they have teams helping with security during a victory celebration.
The department said those who help with the celebrations will be paid from the overtime budget.
Game 6 is on Thursday at 7:30 in Indianapolis. If the Thunder win, they will bring the NBA Title home.
