SAN ANTONIO – The price tag to trade for Kevin Durant may be dropping, but it’s still likely a price the Spurs won’t want to pay.
All signs point to the Spurs moving in another direction after negotiations with the Phoenix Suns have gone nowhere.
The Spurs are one of three teams that Durant says he’d like to be traded to… Houston and Miami are the others.
But my sources say the Spurs’ interest is lukewarm at best. They are not going to mortgage the future by giving up this year’s #2 draft pick or Rookie of the Year Steph Castle for an aging star…. Kirk Goldsberry is an in-the-know NBA analyst who at one point was the Spurs VP of Strategic Research, so his insight was especially interesting.
My sources within the team say one of the concerns is Durant’s age matching their timeline… By the time the Spurs are ready to seriously contend, Durant will be nearing retirement. There is interest, but only at the right price, and right now Phoenix is just asking for too much.
Meanwhile, Victor Wembanyama’s time at the Shao-Lin Monastery in China is coming to an end…
His ten-day stay has been a meditation and physical training retreat. He’s been up at 4:30 am for rigorous training and reportedly has achieved the Kung Fu Duan 1st Level rank after going through the program.
