Former Rutgers forward Ace Bailey reportedly canceled a workout with the Philadelphia 76ers ahead of the 2025 NBA draft, according to Jonathan Givony of ESPN.

Bailey, who has yet to visit any team, was scheduled to work out with the Sixers and meet with team personnel on Friday. He will no longer travel to Philadelphia, and it is unclear whether he’ll reschedule or attempt to take any workouts ahead of the draft on June 25-26.

The 6-foot-8 forward has consistently been projected to be the third or fourth pick by most mock drafts after a strong freshman campaign. However, he is reportedly falling down draft boards after declining several workout invitations from teams selecting in the 3-8 range.

The Sixers have not ruled out selecting Bailey, despite his refusal to visit Philadelphia, sources told ESPN. The team has scouted him extensively throughout the season, as he plays his college basketball at nearby Rutgers in Piscataway, New Jersey, and interviewed him in Chicago at the NBA Draft Combine. The team will have final discussions on who to select in the coming week and is unlikely to move down in the draft order next Wednesday, sources said.

Bailey was a third-team All-Big Ten selection, averaging 17.6 points, 7.2 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 1.3 blocks and one steal on 34.6% shooting from 3-point range. He ranked ninth among all freshmen in points (527) and 10th in rebounds (215).

The 18-year-old measured slightly smaller than expected at the draft combine last month, after Rutgers listed him at 6 feet, 10 inches. Teams have also been displeased with his apparent lack of preparation and focus at the combine, factors that have also hurt his draft stock.

Bailey is highly touted because of his size, scoring and instincts on both ends of the court. He still projects to be a potential franchise cornerstone at the next level, though he may not be drafted as high as initially thought after a precarious predraft process.
