Christie has led the team since Dec. 27 and held a 27-24 record during his time as interim. Previously an assistant coach for the Kings since 2021, Christie also played for the team during their golden era run from 2000-2005. At a Friday news conference, Christie appeared alongside Scott Perry, who recently became general manager of the team. Perry described Christie as a seamless fit in taking the helm.

Christie was serving as an interim head coach following the firing of Mike Brown. Under Christie, the Kings made it to the play-in tournament but were dealt a crushing knockout by the Dallas Mavericks.
