Edey, who is well over 7 feet tall, was reportedly pulled over by an Indiana State Trooper in Tippecanoe County in early May. He was reportedly driving 101 MPH in a 55 MPH zone.

FOX 59 reports that Edey received a citation for his driving violation.

Edey reportedly tried to pass a slow car in his 2023 Kia Sorento. He was reportedly going southbound on State Road 25. He is now facing misdemeanor speeding and reckless driving charges.

Edey was then issued a citation and summons for an appearance in Tippecanoe County Court. Online court records show an initial hearing in his case is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on June 23 in front of Judge Michael A. Morrissey.

A police report from the interaction says that the 7’4″, 300-pound Edey was then released from the scene without incident and not taken to jail. The whole interaction reportedly lasted less than 20 minutes.

Edey, the tallest player in Big Ten history at 7 feet 4 inches, averaged 9.2 points and 8.3 rebounds per game during the 2024-25 NBA season.

Earlier this month, Edey underwent successful surgery to re-stabilize his sprained left ankle. He will reportedly be re-evaluated in four months.
