There’s one fewer candidate for the Nuggets’ vacant general manager position.

Assistant general manager Tommy Balcetis will not have his contract renewed, The Denver Gazette confirmed Monday.

Balcetis and interim general manager Ben Tenzer were the top internal options to replace general manager Calvin Booth, who was let go at the same time as head coach Michael Malone, with three games left in the regular season.

Balcetis joined the Nuggets in 2013 as an analytics manager. He progressed to director of strategy and analytics, vice president of basketball strategy and became assistant general manager in 2020, the role he held until Monday.
