Pistons fall to Knicks 118-116 in their first home postseason game since 2019 and now trail the series 2-1

  • June 20, 2025

DETROIT (WILX) – The Detroit Pistons hosted the New York Knicks on Thursday in Game 3 with the series tied at 1-1. After snapping an NBA-record 15-game postseason losing streak with a win in Game 2, Detroit was looking to pick up its first-ever playoff win at Little Caesars Arena.

Instead, the Knicks won 118-116 to take a 2-1 lead in the series.

Tim Hardaway Jr. and Cade Cunningham each led the Pistons with 24 points. Cunningham also supplied 11 assists and seven assists. Dennis Schröder had 18 points off the bench. Jalen Duren had 16 points and eight rebounds.

The Knicks led for much of the first half and headed to halftime leading by 13 points. The Pistons cut the lead closer multiple times in the third quarter but couldn’t keep the Knicks from responding and ended the quarter trailing by 10.

Detroit kept chipping away at the Knicks’ lead and trailed by three with 4:41 remaining in the fourth quarter, but the Knicks were able to take a five-point lead with just over a minute left, and Detroit couldn’t overcome the deficit.

The Pistons will try once again to get their first playoff win at LCA and tie the series back up in Game 4 on Sunday.
