Fans have been left wondering whether Hannah Hidalgo and Olivia Miles are officially back on good terms after the pair linked up for the 2025 USA Basketball Women’s AmeriCup Team trials this week.

The dynamic college basketball duo’s selection had been confirmed earlier this month after both shone for Notre Dame last season, helping the Fighting Irish to a 28–6 (16–2 ACC) overall record, another regular season title, and another run to the Sweet 16 at March Madness. Miles has since joined TCU after entering the transfer portal for her final year of college eligibility.

It was recently announced that the University of Notre Dame women’s basketball program is set to hire Jas Smith as its new director of operations, once she leaves her current post with LSU’s football team. The news broke shortly after head coach Niele Ivey added a fifth player to combat the departure of Miles.

The 22-year-old’s shock departure sparked speculation that there may have been issues behind the scenes at Notre Dame – namely between her and Hidalgo. Just a few days later, footage of the 20-year-old appearing to confront Miles went viral on social media, sparking plenty of theories between fans.

This week, however, the basketball guards have had the chance to show exactly whether they are still friends or not after linking up for Team USA duty, having been named as one of 21 athletes given the opportunity to play for a spot on the AmeriCup roster this summer.

The trials began on June 17 at the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Training Center in Colorado Springs and two days later, the USA Basketball Instagram account posted a photo of the trials group, where Hidalgo and Miles were seen smiling and sitting very close to one another.

Fans instantly rushed to the comments section to debate whether they were on good terms or not, with one of the top comments reading: “It’s so weird seeing Hannah and Olivia again did they squish the beef??” A second person wrote: “Why they gotta make Olivia sit right next to Hannah?”

Others were simply thrilled to see some of college basketball’s best players in one photo, with plenty of talent on offer. “That is one stacked team and amazing coaches,” one person said. “All this talent in one picture is insane,” chimed another.

The trials concluded on Thursday and things appear to have gone well for both Hidalgo and Miles after both were named in the final 12-player roster on Friday, which also includes the likes of LSU star Flau’jae Johnson.

Again, however, there were still some debating over whether Hidalgo and Miles were still on bad terms, with one person writing: “Hidalgo and miles should be interesting lol weren’t they beefing?” Many were quick to shut down the suggestion, though.

More positive comments read: “That is a LOT of front court power + Hidalgo and Miles omg I love it,” and “Love all….well most of these girls games! A lot of my favs on here!” A third person said: “What! No UConn girls on it? Oh well but I do love Fla’Jae, Miles, Hildago, [Joyce] Edwards though.”

Miles, Hidalgo and the rest of the Team USA team started training immediately on Friday, with the camp set to run for a week until June 27. The 2025 FIBA Women’s AmeriCup will then begin the following day in Santiago, Chile, before concluding on July 6.

The United States have been placed in Group B alongside the host nation, Colombia, Puerto Rico and Mexico. It will provide Notre Dame fans, in particular, a chance at seeing HIdalgo and Miles back on the same side, and hopefully producing the form that made them one of the deadliest duos in college basketball last season.
