The Orlando Magic are going into an offseason where the future still seems to be bright. After losing to the Boston Celtics in the first round, the Magic have shared that they are ready to take things to the next level, and it’s certain that they’ll be trying to make moves in free agency or the trade market in the offseason.
Some people may have seen what the future of the Magic was going to look like before they even got to this point. With Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner as the cornerstones of the team, that could intrigue anybody to want to join the team.

One of those players who considered the Magic as an option was Damian Lillard. Before he was traded to the Milwaukee Bucks, Lillard had options on the table on where he wanted to play next, and he pondered going to the Magic, according to The Stein Line.

“When Damian Lillard was on the trade block in Portland before the 2024-24 season, league sources say that more than a few rival teams – as well as Lillard’s camp – wondered whether Orlando would be joining the trade pursuit for him,” The Stein Line wrote.
Looking at it now, Lillard would have been a nice fit for the Magic, especially with them currently being in trade rumors for a point guard. With the Bucks having uncertainty around the future of the team, there could be a chance that Lillard is available once again, but he could miss most or all of next season because of his Achilles injury.
