If Greek star Giannis Antetokounmpo were to leave the Fiserv Forum, and there is plenty of speculation about such an exit, the list of interested parties would stretch across just about every franchise in the NBA. However, the good news for Milwaukee Bucks fans is that the 30-year-old is still looking to achieve things in Wisconsin.
Antetokounmpo, who has just finished his 12th season as a Buck, played a prominent part in their 2021 NBA title success, Milwaukee’s first championship in fifty years, and last season the consistent performer average over 30 points per game as head coach Doc Rivers saw his side toppled in the first round of the playoffs.
Bucks fans who believe Giannis could once again take Milwaukee all the way can bet on such an eventuality. In order to make any such wager as effective as possible, we’d recommend you read more to find out which sportsbooks are most deserving of your hard-earned dollars before you place the bet.
The Bucks finished 2024/25 with a 48-34 record before going down to the Indiana Pacers in five games, and this led many to consider whether Antetokounmpo would be looking to try his hand elsewhere. However comments made during a recent trip to Brazil appear to suggest that he is ready to push Milwaukee back towards the heights they reached back in 2020/21.
“The Finals are different, I hope to be back soon with the Bucks,”
There are two great teams that got there.”
“Indiana, with my friend Pascal Siakam, is reaping the rewards, and OKC simply has the MVP. I’m rooting for good basketball.” Antetokounmpo added.
The ‘Greek Freak’ is contracted to the Bucks until summer 2027, with the player having an option for 2027/28 and by all accounts, a meeting between the team and Antetokounmpo set for last month did not come to fruition, further fueling exit speculation.
One team who were apparently eying the Bucks player was the Toronto Raptors, but ESPN’s Brian Windhorst has commented on how such a move appears to be off the table, commenting.
“Right now, there is no Giannis Antetokounmpo trade market, there is no Giannis Antetokounmpo trade discussions.”
“He has not asked for it. The Bucks are not looking to trade him.”
It should go without saying that Antetokounmpo is the type of player coach Rivers would not look to see leave, and when asked to comment on the possibility of him leaving, the 63-year-old gave a short and sharp response.
“Guys, I’m not doing all that.”
“I talk to him all the time. You can move on now, thank you.”
In a previous interview, when asked if he’d consider trading Giannis for the 2025 NBA Draft first pick, Cooper Flagg, Rivers was similarly direct.
“There’s some things I don’t even have to answer,”
While clearly Antetokounmpo feels the need to stay loyal to the Bucks, there may come a time when he’d consider a departure, especially if his team doesn’t get close to hitting their previous heights.
