The Philadelphia 76ers will undoubtedly do their due diligence as they prepare for the 2025 NBA draft. The Sixers currently have the No. 3 pick in the draft and will be looking to make the right selection to help push their team back on the championship path.

There are a number of directions the Sixers could go in, but should they make a selection, Baylor’s VJ Edgecombe has been a popular name in many mock drafts for Philadelphia. If one has followed along with Sixers Wire’s draft big boards, Edgecombe has also consistently been at the top of the board for Philadelphia at No. 3.

Bleacher Report put together a mock draft and have Edgecombe going No. 3 to the Sixers. His pro comparisons have been NBA champions Andrew Wiggins and Iman Shumpert as well as former All-Star Victor Oladipo:

VJ Edgecombe versus Ace Bailey has been a debate all season long. Fit could potentially give Edgecombe the edge or tie-breaker for Philadelphia, as he’d give the lineup different/needed elements of explosion, defensive quickness and feel compared to Bailey.

Rival teams think the Sixers could be more drawn to Edgecombe’s athleticism and superior analytics, as well as his encouraging shooting development. He averaged the same amount of three-point makes as Bailey, who was supposed to be much further ahead in that department.

It remains to be seen what the Sixers will do with the No. 3 pick, but one has to believe they have done the proper work to prepare for the night on June 25. If it is Edgecombe who gets selected, then he will certainly need to be ready for an immediate run to the title as the Sixers still have their eyes on contending in the 2025-26 led by Joel Embiid, Paul George, and Tyrese Maxey on the floor.
