Mark Pope has added a familiar face to the Kentucky Wildcats’ frontcourt. Reece Potter, a 7-foot-1 center and Lexington native, is transferring to Kentucky after two seasons at Miami (OH).

Potter is coming off a breakout year in which he played 30 games, averaging 6.5 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 1.2 assists in 17 minutes per game. The skilled big man shot 46.6% from the field and showcased his range, connecting on 36.7% of his 3s while attempting two per contest. He helped lead the RedHawks to a 25-9 record and a MAC Championship Game appearance.

A former in-state standout at Lexington Catholic, Potter returns home with a chance to make an impact for a new-look Kentucky squad under Pope. His combination of size, shooting, and mobility makes him a strong fit in Pope’s modern offensive system.

People on Twitter have been raving about the addition of Potter committing to Kentucky.

Cameron Waddle loves that Potter will add some more competition to the loaded frontcourt that Kentucky has.

A 7-footer who is a career 40% 3-point shooter with more assists than turnovers and Lexington native as your 13th man? What’s not to like? https://t.co/fw4cc7J6SP

Safe to say, Kentucky fans are happy to have the 7-foot-1 big man, Potter, back home in Lexington in hopes of bringing title No. 9 back to the Bluegrass.
