Indiana Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton suffered a devastating injury in the first quarter of Game 7 of the NBA Finals. The injury had all the looks of an achilles tear — which is now confirmed, per ESPN’s Shams Charania — causing many around the league to react accordingly.

Many Knicks players took to social media in the immediate aftermath to put their rivalry aside, and send condolences to Haliburton.

Jalen Brunson, Karl-Anthony Towns, and Josh Hart all took to X to show their support for their fellow competitor.

“Prayers up man,” wrote Jalen Brunson followed by a prayer emoji.

“Ty,” Hart wrote with three prayer emojis.

“You never want to see that, prayers up,” Towns wrote.

Haliburton attempted to play through a calf sprain when he suffered the injury. He marks the third star player to suffer a torn achilles in this year’s playoffs alone, joining Milwaukee Bucks guard Damian Lillard, and Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum.

The Knicks and Haliburton’s Pacers faced off in the Eastern Conference Finals, where the Knicks were defeated in six games. Last year, the Knicks were also defeated by the Pacers in seven games in the Eastern Conference Semifinals.

The injuries to Haliburton, Tatum, and Lillard could have a ripple effect on the Eastern Conference next season. With three stars now out of the picture for the foreseeable future, the conference will shape up to look significantly different next season.
