Pistons Told to Call Suns For Major Reason After Kevin Durant Trade originally appeared on Athlon Sports.

The trade finally happened. The Phoenix Suns dealt Kevin Durant to the Houston Rockets.

In fitting fashion, the trade was reported the day of Game 7 of the NBA Finals — featuring the now-champion Oklahoma City Thunder, where Kevin Durant once dominated.

The Detroit Pistons were a dark horse to land the 15-time All-Star, and were never really a real option, though they will be glad they didn’t make a trade.

The outlook of the Eastern Conference is quite bleak, given the heartbreaking Achilles injuries to three All-Star players during the NBA Playoffs.

With a wide open conference, the Pistons might be able to continue their ascension and ability to compete at the highest level.

While Detroit — fresh off a winning season and impressive playoff campaign — didn’t land Durant, they can still engage in trade conversations with the Suns.

In fact, the Pistons are being suggested to call Phoenix and check on the availability of star guard Devin Booker.

“Detroit needs to call Phoenix for Booker ASAP,” one NBA fan said.

“DEVIN BOOKER GO TO THE PISTONS,” another fan said.

“Pistons need to go get Devin Booker,” another suggested.

“Devin booker to the pistons never looked so certain,” one fan added.

“Pistons go ahead in get Devin booker,” one fan suggested.

Pairing Cade Cunningham, who made an All-Star arrival last season, with Booker would create quite a high-caliber backcourt to lead the team.

The two would be capable of taking the Pistons deep into the playoffs, and Detroit could very well build a viable team around those two highly skilled guards.

The Suns might not move Booker, though. First, they will try and retool the roster around the guard who has spent his entire career in Phoenix.

If that plan goes south for whatever reason, and Booker decides he wants out, the Pistons should be very, very quick to pick up the phone and land the superstar.
