The NBA trade season started before the postseason’s conclusion, with Kevin Durant traded to Houston on the morning of Sunday’s game seven showdown.

Oklahoma City has been crowned champions, and now all attention shifts to Wednesday’s NBA Draft. While a few Thunder players might be busy recovering from a parade, new faces will find their first NBA homes.

Cooper Flagg is expected to go first to Dallas, with Dylan Harper widely projected next up to join Victor Wembanyama and De’Aaron Fox on the Spurs.

The third pick, owned by the 76ers, is where most expect the trades to begin.

On the Sacramento Kings’ side, under new general manager Scott Perry, they’ve not been shy about pursuing a point guard. Also, plenty of reports have stated their interest in trading in the first round.

The same sentiment was echoed recently by Michael Scotto of HoopsHype. But he added a few names Perry is reportedly exploring the value of.

The Kings have expressed a desire to acquire a first-round pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, league sources told HoopsHype. Amid those conversations, Sacramento has gauged the trade market on guards Malik Monk and Devin Carter, sources said.

Scotto also reported “the Kings most notably held Carter out of trade talks for Brooklyn Nets forward Cam Johnson during the season, league sources told HoopsHype.”

Keep in mind that was under Monte McNair, with Perry having taken over since their season ended in the play-in.

Part of a new general manager coming in is a new assessment of player values. Everyone group is going to look at things differently, and they lack the connection of having drafted some of the current roster.

Sacramento continues to be in a slew of trade rumors, with a clear interest in trading into the first round of Wednesday’s draft.

“Gauging the trade market” is not equivalent to looking to trade someone, but Perry seems to be exploring his options.

NBA Drafts are typically hard to predict, but in the Sacramento Kings’ case this year, it’s nearly impossible. What does the NBA Mock Draft landscape think of the Kings’ plans for the 42nd pick?

Sacramento will enter the two-day 2025 NBA Draft on June 25-26 without a first-round pick as it searches for answers to salvaging its current roster. The Kings’ first-round selection was conveyed to Atlanta as part of the 2022 trade that brought Kevin Huerter to the team.

Last year, Sacramento had plenty of prep work to do as they held the 13th overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft. Following a lengthy pre-draft workout and interview process, they landed on Providence guard Devin Carter, who spent most of his rookie season dealing with his recovery and rehab from surgery to repair a torn labrum in his left shoulder.
