The NBA season just ended on Sunday, but the offseason work has already arrived.

The Detroit Pistons and the other 29 teams across the league will launch into draft mode starting Wednesday, June 25 with the first round, and then for the first time ever, the second round the next night.

Although the Pistons do not have a first-round pick as part of the deal to acquire Isaiah Stewart in 2020, it should still be a busy few days for the franchise and Trajan Langdon, the team’s president of basketball operations, starting with a press conference Tuesday afternoon at 1 p.m.

It was an incredibly successful first season for Langdon at the helm, helping lead a 30-game turnaround as the Pistons went from 14 wins in 2023-24 to 44 wins last season.

While the Pistons aren’t on the board until pick No. 37 on Day 2, the NBA draft is also when a lot of trades get done around the league and with the Eastern Conference looking more wide open than ever before, the Pistons are a team a lot of people are circling as one that could be busy this offseason.

Ahead of the big few days, Langdon is speaking with the media at at the team’s practice facility to preview the draft, offseason and other things that could go down this summer.

The Free Press will be in the building, and you can follow along with live updates below, and you can watch it live at the top of this page:

Trajan on Cade making All-NBA : “It gives you a ton of confidence going forward knowing you have a guy that can lead you, and he’s hungry this summer. I think that’s the biggest thing, he wants to get better.” Said strength and conditioning are big focuses for him.

Trajan on if he thinks about how the Pistons would’ve fared in the first round if Stew and Ivey were healthy: “Of course, especially with Stew. In January you know JI’s going to be out, but with Stew … that force around the rim in the second unit could’ve really helped us.”

— Omari Sankofa II (@omarisankofa) June 24, 2025

Trajan: “We’re not going to be super aggressive this summer I don’t think, I don’t foresee any of that. It’s just developing from within and hopefully keep the guys we brought in last year.”

Trajan says he’d like to see their free agents (Beasley, Schroder and THJ) return. “We have stated that we’re interested and they’re interested in us, but agents have to do their job and survey the market and see what’s there, and hopefully we can see those guys back.”

Trajan on Jaden Ivey and Isaiah Stewart’s injury status: “I wouldn’t say there a full go but they’re coming along. They’ll be ready for camp.”

— Omari Sankofa II (@omarisankofa) June 24, 2025

Trajan said the plan with the 37th pick is to take the best player available. “There’s a lot of wings that are intriguing. There’s some bigs that are intriguing and there’s some guards that can shoot the ball … I think we’ll find a player we like at that number.”

— Omari Sankofa II (@omarisankofa) June 24, 2025

Trajan said the revamped East has “provoked thought” but hasn’t changed the roadmap. “I don’t think we want to be locked in and push our chips in … we want to keep that optionality … I think we will see growth from this year to next year and that’s what’s important for us.”
