Gamecock basketball player first from the program to head to NBA Draft green room

  • June 25, 2025

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) – One University of South Carolina men’s basketball player will make program history by being the first player to attend the NBA Draft’s green room.

Sophomore forward and All-SEC player Collin Murray-Boyles is one of 24 players who have been invited to the 2025 NBA Draft’s green room.

Murray-Boyles is the first player in Gamecock history to receive an invitation to the green room since the modern NBA Draft lottery started in 1985.

He is hoping to become the 40th player overall and the second player under head coach Lamont Paris to be drafted to the NBA.

During this past season with the Gamecocks, he averaged 16.8 points, 8.3 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game. He also started all 32 games, had 11 20-point games and notched nine double-doubles during the season.

Murray-Boyles earned second team All-SEC honors and First Team NABC All-South Atlantic District distinction. He also led the Gamecocks in points, rebounds, steals and blocks for the 2024-25 season.

He shot 58.6% from the floor during the season, leading the SEC and being ranked No. 21 in the nation. He has a career field-goal percentage of 59.0, which makes him the No. 2 Gamecock of all-time behind Jimmy Foster, who shot 59.6% from 1981-84.

Murray-Boyles would be the first Gamecock since 2006 to be drafted in the first round when Renaldo Balkman was picked 20th by the New York Knicks.

The NBA Draft will be televised live from Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, starting at 8 p.m. on ABC and ESPN.
