Earlier this week, reports surfaced that the Miami Heat were making Andrew Wiggins available in trade talks with the hopes of trying to improve their roster.

Well, we received additional confirmation on Wednesday, hours ahead of the 2025 NBA Draft, where the Heat own the No. 20 pick.

According to ClutchPoints’ Anthony Irwin, a Lakers insider, the Miami Heat and Los Angeles Lakers have “continued their trade talks” surrounding the 30-year-old wing, even though no deal is imminent.

Sources: The Lakers and Heat have continued their trade talks. I reported the other day that the Lakers checked in on Andrew Wiggins and negotiations have advanced from there. A deal isn’t imminent, but there’s been plenty of conversation on this front.

Wiggins, 30, has two years, $58 million left on his current contract, including a player option in 2026-27.

The Heat acquired Wiggins at the deadline as the headliner for Jimmy Butler being shipped to Golden State. Though Wiggins’ tenure, while filled with perhaps a handful of promising moments, was underwhelming.

He dealt with multiple lower-body injuries for the majority of his stint with the Heat, averaging just 19.0 points and 4.2 rebounds on 45.8/36.0/73.1 shooting splits in 17 games.

Considering the former No. 1 overall pick coming one of his least available seasons since entering the NBA in 2014, his value is in the eye of the beholder. The Heat enter this summer roughly $15 million away from the first apron (not accounting for its first-round pick Wednesday … if it’s used) and $27 million away from the second-apron, according to Spotrac.

Could the Lakers possibly entice Miami with a combination of Dorian Finney-Smith, Rui Hachimura and Dalton Knecht. Could a Gabe Vincent reunion be on the horizon? All of those aforementioned names outside of Knecht are expiring contracts.
