SPORTS 6-26-25
NBA:
It was a surprising draft night for the Portland Trail Blazers. They traded down from pick 11 to 16, acquiring a future first-round pick and two second-rounders in the process. With the 16th pick, the Blazers made a bold move, selecting Chinese center Yang Hansen, a player many analysts projected to go much later. This adds another big man to an already crowded Blazers frontcourt. Many predict Deandre Ayton or Robert Williams will get traded. The Trail Blazers currently don’t have a pick in tonight’s 2nd round, but the day is not over yet.
MLB:
The Mariners dropped a close one to the Minnesota Twins last night, losing 2-0. Joe Ryan silenced Seattle bats. Kody Clemens and Willi Castro supplied the offense for Minnesota. The Mariners are now 41-38, 5.5 games behind Houston. Today, the Mariners go for the series win. First pitch is at 10:10 this morning.
San Francisco lost to Miami last night, 8-5, in 10 innings. The Giants’ bullpen struggled late. Christian Koss and Mike Yastrzemski homered for San Francisco. The Giants’ record is now 44-36, tied for second with the Padres 5.5 games behind the Dodgers. The Giants look to salvage the series with the Marlins tonight. First pitch is at 6:45 PM PDT.
MLS:
The Timbers have one All-Star representative. Portland midfielder David Da Costa was named an All-Star for the second straight season. Da Costa has two goals and eight assists this season. The game will be played July 23rd in Texas.
LOCAL:
