Could there yet be another twist in the Dallas Mavericks’ offseason?

The Denver Nuggets have secured permission to interview Mavs assistant coach Jared Dudley for a position on head coach David Adelman’s staff, according to a report by NBA correspondent Marc Stein.

Dudley, a 14-year league veteran and 2020 NBA champion with the Lakers, joined Jason Kidd’s coaching staff following the end of his playing career in 2021. He is also reportedly a target for Memphis’ new staff under head coach Tuomas Iisalo. He garnered interest from other teams after the Mavericks’ 2024 run to the NBA Finals, but ultimately stayed put last summer.

The report comes just days after top assistant Sean Sweeney departed for the associate head coach position with the San Antonio Spurs.

Additionally, the Nuggets have shown “strong interest” in former Mavericks point guard J.J. Barea for a role on its coaching staff, according to Stein’s reporting. A 2011 NBA champion with Dallas, Barea has head coaching experience in his native Puerto Rico and also served as a player development coach for Dallas in 2021.
