The Orlando Magic are looking towards the future.

After acquiring Desmond Bane in a trade with the Memphis Grizzlies before the NBA Draft, and selecting Jase Richardson in the first round of the draft, the team is weighing its options ahead of free agency.

The Magic are one of the few teams penciled in for success next season after adding Bane to their core of Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner.

Bane’s ability to shoot the ball well from three and operate as a shot creator gives Orlando a different dimension to their offense that was missing last season.

With the misfortunes the Boston Celtics and Indiana Pacers saw this post season—losing their top players to Achilles injuries—and the uncertainty of Giannis Antetokounmpo’s future with the Milwaukee Bucks, the Magic are positioned to step into the void in the Eastern Conference.

They could achieve a top-four finish in the East and set up a potential postseason run to the Eastern Conference Final or beyond.

The Magic have a roster that is shored up for the most part. Banchero, Franz Wagner, Jalen Suggs and Bane are all under contract this upcoming season.

In the trade for Bane they lost Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Cole Anthony. They’ll likely need to add a reserve guard to their squad this offseason.

There are several options on the market who’d fit the need such as Tyus Jones, Dennis Schroder or Malcolm Brogdon.

They also have to make a decision on Mo Wagner, who has a team option this summer, ahead of potential free agency next year.

Magic offseason needs

The Magic need additional guard depth and shooting on their roster. They may opt to find both in the same player this offseason.
