NBA Fans In Disbelief After Conflicting Lakers-Kings News originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
NBA free agency tipped off on Monday evening, and several deals have already been agreed upon. While signings cannot be made official until July 6, teams are now permitted to engage with free agents and reach verbal agreements.

The Los Angeles Lakers have been expected to be very active in free agency, with their opening round playoff loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves exposing many roster holes that need filling. While the most prominent area of need comes at the center position, Los Angeles suddenly became in need of a wing after Dorian Finney-Smith opted to sign with the Houston Rockets (via ESPN).

Shortly after the news that Finney-Smith would be heading to Houston, ESPN’s Shams Charania reported Los Angeles had reached an agreement with Sacramento Kings free agent Jake LaRavia. A former Memphis Grizzlies product, LaRavia is coming off a season in which he averaged 6.9 points and made 42.3% of his 3-point attempts.
Just minutes after this report, major confusion set in. NBA insider Chris Haynes reported LaRavia had reached an agreement to remain in Sacramento. His report directly conflicted the one from Charania.
Haynes deleted his post, following up with another that confirmed LaRavia is indeed headed to Los Angeles and is not returning to Sacramento. But fans already saw the first one.

“NO WAY,” one replied.
“@ShamsCharania said it was lakers who is it?” one asked.
“YOU WERE WRONG LMAOOOOOO,” one added.
“Sacramento????” one asked.
“Lmaooooooo come on mane y’all trolling,” one wrote.
While free agency may not be moving as quick as fans had grown used to in previous years, it did seem to speed up on Haynes Monday evening, and fans are buzzing after the blatant error from one of the league’s most-followed insiders.
